I'll have to paruse my CD collection to come up with specific song titles.

  • After re-listening to the Cool World Soundtrack I amend my sugestion to just the first 2 songs...
Real Cool World - David Bowie
Play With Me - Thompson Twins

    I also add...
    My Sharona - The Knack
Girls Just Want to Have Fun - Cindi Lauper
    Personal Jesus - Depeche Mode
    Black Cars - Gino Vannelli

How can you tell I grew up in the 80's?

I will continue to paruse my CD collection - maybe I'll find something more recent:)

  • Oh Oh, The Shrek Soundtrack
    Smash Mouth---All Star
    The Proclaimers---I'm On My Way

    and maybe...

    Radar Love--- Golden Earing

    Suggest, suggest!!

  • Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
Life is A Highway - Tom Petty
    Venus - Bananarama

Ummm... I googled "songs about cars" & some of the ones I liked were...
    American Pie - Don McLean
King of The Road - Roger Miller
    Paved Paradise - Jonie Mitchell
Paradise By The Dashboard Lights - Meatloaf
    Love Shack - B52s
    Danger Zone - Kenny Loggins

  • And then I surfed some more and found...
Born to be Wlld - Stephenwolf
    Proud Mary - CCR
Start Me Up - Rolling Stones

And, on a completly different note and entirely from the mind of me, The Phantom of the Opera (the main title song). What can I say, sometimes I like to sing along to grandiose musicals in the car.

May I also suggest some Barenaked Ladies (so many great ones to choose from) and Summer of '69 by Bryan Adams.

That's all from me for tonight.

  • I like anything by The Offspring, especially "Get a Job", "Self-Esteem" and "Pretty Fly for a White Guy".

I also like Three Days Grace: "I Hate Everything About You" and "When I Need You" (which is worthwhile if only for the line "I must be runnin' out of luck 'cause you're just not drunk enough to ..." well, you get the drift).

Anything by "Great Big Sea", and anything off of .38 Special's Greatest Hits also score really high with me when I'm in the car. I really like "If I'd Been the One" by .38 Special.

Favorite driving tunes ... I think it depends on how you tend to feel when you're driving. For some reason, I like listening to hard, lively music when I'm driving. Keeps me really aware and makes me bop along. Fun, fun!

  • Andraya requests "Que Sera Sera" by Doris Day. I'm not sure if it's peppy enough for driving but her favourite song, "You Are My Sunshine" is actually quite a downer once you get past the first few verses.
You could also put "The Witchdoctor" on for her (the Paul Hann Version). He's also got a cute song called "The Little Red Car" that would be appropriate. Oh who am I kidding, I play the Paul Hann for her but he gets stuck in MY head :) "Smile & Sing" has been in there for 4 days now - Augh!!!

  • No real order to this, plus I'm gonna rock-snob you. Listen to these songs and see if you agree.

    1. Young Americans - David Bowie
    2. The Rooster - Outkast . . . then feel sorry your car's not tricked out.
    3. Higher and Higher (Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) - Jackie Wilson, bonus points if you can track down the awesome Chris Ardoin zydeco cover.
4.If you can find an MP3 of it, Overjoyed - Bourbon Tabernacle Choir
    5. Pretty much any Andrew W.K., though you might lean towards She is Beautiful or I Get Wet.
