It'z Beginning to Feel a Lot Like Christmas
It's no secret that I'm not a big fan of Christmas. I despise stores that push Christmas before we can even start to celebrate Halloween. It's to the point where I'm sick of Christmas music the second I hear it over the mall PA system, because I know it's all I'm going to hear for the next 2 months. I don't like the concept of "you have to buy everyone you know what they want for Christmas or they will hate you." I can't stand that love, affection and friendship are now measured by how much money you spend. I've heard stories of people who were brought to tears out of disappointment in their Christmas gifts; and it just makes me sick to my stomach with disgust (Do NOT get me started on this one, I could rant for a while). It's everywhere; and after a while, I feel like I just can't get away from it.
For the first time it felt like I could forget the nasty, money-hunrgy, greedy, corporate "holiday" and enjoy the season for what it is: Christmas.
And a good thing too; I was well on my way to being a Nezbitt Scrooge this year.
So I will give gifts to my loved ones this year, but not because I think they won't like me if I don't. I will give because I want to, out of love. I will give to charity, because I believe in spreading love. I will enjoy the time I get with my family, because they mean a lot to me. I will cherish the time with my friends, and try to see as many of them as I can; because they are very important to me. I will eat, drink and be merry...
Because it's Christmas.

Wow, you looked at Christmas like I look at St. Valentine's Day. That's crazy.
Also: I HATE ST. VALENTINE'S DAY.
